Are 5mm / 5.5mm Hybrid vinyl floors any good?

Good question, basically it gets down to the preparation of your subfloors, the more money spent on subfloors the better the overall finish quality of your hybrid floors will be.

I speak for myself, we have been in the flooring industry for a quarter of a decade, we know and understand floors, if you are thinking of purchasing cheap 5mm hybrid, the chances are that if your floor prep is not 100% done properly, and I mean it has to be level as a plate of soup, you will encounter problems.

What sort of problems could you encounter?, mostly spring moving boards underfoot, if you have a small hollow in your slab, very common is the joints will split because the joint itself is only a couple om millimetre’s and these tend to pull loose during contraction and expansion, especially more so, with an uneven poorly prepared subfloor.

Spend a little more on a thicker board, 6.5mm should be a good starting point, again the same rules apply Preparation of the Sub Floors, is the number one priority when installing any floor.
